An Prerequisite for Online Collaboration

As technology developed by, online collaboration in education is rapidly increased. When I was in elementary school, in 1995, the teacher used black board with chock. Now, in 2010, professors are using Blackboard with key board and mouse. Students who raised their hand to participate in the class now click an icon and write comments.

I could see this phenomenon from “Collaborate Using Online Tools - PCWorld Business Center" and “Students discovering online collaboration - NJ.com". From elementary school to MBA, we can see electronic devices and usage of Web 2.0 very easily. They can help not only teachers but also students find material so conveniently that they can broaden their view to learn whole world. It’s very good thing.

Yes, it’s very nice. However, I think there should be something; education and regulation. Let’s connect to the Internet and do whatever by links on portal sites like Google, Yahoo, Bing something. Maybe, absolutely, you will go to sites for adults too easily. And also, it will be applied for the students who learn with Web 2.0. If they are not educated well, the effect to them will be very serious and sometimes dangerous.

  1. I agree that education and regulation are very important if these tools are going to be used in the right way. In high school I took classes that incorporated some of these tech aspects. We were in computer labs for a number of classes and would not take class seriously, laying Flash games the whole time or just going through things like MySpace. I think these new tools would work as long as teachers make sure to engage their students while carefully regulating how they use the internet. If they monitor computers correctly, the other distractions of the internet will become less problematic
